About this experience

Take the guesswork out of hunting new country with a guided hunt at Berida, led by experienced hunter and guide Kurt from Rocky Ridge Contracting. Kurt brings around 15 years of hunting experience, along with professional experience as a contract shooter and commercial kangaroo harvester. He also spent a number of years shooting competitively and has extensive practical experience with firearms, animal identification, shot placement and recovery. Importantly, Kurt knows Berida and how deer move across the property. His knowledge of the ridgelines, timber, gullies, feeding areas and likely deer movements gives visiting hunters a significant advantage over simply arriving and trying to learn the property themselves. Guided hunts can be tailored to the hunter’s experience and ability — from someone undertaking their first serious deer hunt through to experienced hunters wanting local knowledge of the property. Depending on conditions, hunts can include daytime spot-and-stalk hunting through Berida’s open and timbered country, as well as night-time thermal observation and pest control, using thermal equipment to assist with animal identification. Kurt can also assist with the complete process after a successful hunt, including animal recovery, field dressing and caping for trophy mounting. The aim isn’t simply to put you in front of an animal. It’s to provide a safe, practical and enjoyable hunt with an experienced guide who knows the property, knows the animals and can tailor the hunt to you.

Arrive prepared – Bring a suitable firearm, ammunition, clothing, footwear and personal equipment for the planned hunt. 4. The region

Hunting in the New England Tablelands

The New England Tablelands between Tamworth, Armidale and Glen Innes is quietly one of the best deer districts in Australia. Fallow deer are established in serious numbers through the granite belt, red deer herds are expanding year on year, and pigs and goats work the gorge country that falls away east toward the escarpment.
