Australia has millions of acres of free public hunting land. The land is free, the permit is free, and the government form is where most hunters give up: a licence number you have to go and find, a reserve code nobody explains, and a session that times out while you look for it.

We are not a government agency. The permits below are issued by state authorities, and every one of them can be applied for directly, by you, for free - each permit links to the authority's own form. The $49 you pay here is our fee for preparing and lodging the application on your behalf. It is not a government charge, and it does not buy an approval.

What we can lodge

Free-to-apply public land permits, starting with New South Wales. Each one lists what you must already hold: we fill in forms, we don't manufacture eligibility. Victoria needs only your Game Licence (nothing further to lodge), and the Territory's reserve permits carry the NT's own fee - so neither belongs in a “we lodge the free form” service, and we don't pretend otherwise.

1. Which permit

2. Your details

Exactly as they appear on your licence. The authority checks them against their own records, so a nickname or an old address is the quickest way to have an application knocked back.

3. Your licences

NSW DPI Hunting (DPIRD) ask for these on the form, so we can't lodge without them.

The booking is made against this licence, so it has to be yours and current.

The booking is written permission for a specific forest on specific dates, so we need both to lodge it.

Your date of birth, address and licence numbers are encrypted before they are stored, and are used for this application and nothing else.

4. Authorise us to lodge it

You are asking Hunting Properties Australia to prepare and lodge this application with NSW DPI Hunting (DPIRD) on your behalf, using the details above.

  • The $49 fee is ours, for our work. We are not a government agency and this is not a government charge.
  • The booking itself is free. It requires a current NSW Restricted (R) Game Hunting Licence, which NSW DPI charges for separately - we cannot buy one for you.
  • You can always apply yourself, free, direct with the authority.
  • The decision is the authority's, not ours. We can't promise an outcome - if we can't lodge it, you get the fee back.
  • You confirm the details above are true and that you hold what the permit requires.

Straight answers

Isn't the permit free? What am I paying $49 for?

The permit is free, and you can absolutely apply for it yourself at no cost - every permit on this page links straight to the authority's own form. The $49 is our fee for doing the work: reading the current requirements, preparing the application correctly, lodging it, and chasing the outcome. You are paying us for our time, not paying a government charge.

Are you the government?

No. Hunting Properties Australia is a private company. We are not a government agency, we are not endorsed by one, and we have no say in whether your permit is granted. We fill in the form and lodge it; the decision belongs entirely to the issuing authority.

What if my application is refused?

The service fee buys the lodgement, not the outcome, so a refusal by the authority is not refunded - but we'll tell you exactly why they refused it and what would need to change. If we can't lodge your application at all, you get the whole fee back.

Do I still need my own licence?

Yes. We can only apply for what you are already entitled to hold. Where a permit requires a current firearms licence or a state game licence, you need to hold it before we lodge - we can't buy one for you, and the authority will refuse an application without it.

How long does it take?

We aim to lodge within two business days of your payment, and we tell you the moment it goes in. After that it is the authority's timeline, which is usually a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the time of year.

What do you do with my details?

They go on your permit application and nowhere else. On our production systems your date of birth, home address and licence numbers are stored encrypted, and we never sell or share them. See our privacy policy for the full detail.
