In the Western Plains near Coonamble, Gilwarny State forest is declared public hunting land in New South Wales, open to hunting free of charge for holders of a current NSW Restricted (R) Licence. An online booking is required before you go. The forest is open seven days a week and permits firearms, bows, black powder and dogs, with feral pigs the species available, including at night.
As with other public state forests, Gilwarny is shared land and may be used by other visitors at the same time as hunters. Check the current forest status and any closures before travelling out to Coonamble.
